Are you passionate about making a difference? LonGBoaT Wakefield offers meaningful opportunities to support and uplift the LGBT+ community through volunteering and trustee roles.

From running community events like our Hub Drop-ins, Queer Socials, and Trivia Nights, to taking part in creative projects like our Kirkgate Railway Station Adoption, every role helps create a more inclusive Wakefield. Volunteers gain hands-on experience in leadership, event planning, and teamwork—all while building community and connection.

Trustees play a vital part in shaping our strategy and long-term goals. It’s a great opportunity to develop governance and leadership skills while guiding a local charity that makes real impact.

We’re part of Wakefield’s Citizen Coin scheme, so every you attend you give earns you digital coins to spend at local businesses—supporting your community while giving back.

Not sure where to start? Come along to our Volunteer Open Day, held monthly at Wakefield Kirkgate Station. Meet the team, learn about what we do, and get stuck in!

Whether you’re looking to volunteer occasionally or help lead as a trustee, we’d love to have you on board. Together, we can build a safer, kinder, more connected Wakefield.

Volunteering Opportunites Via Citizen Coin

662fae046cb00c0df1100d8a_Q3 Core Report

LonGBoaT Charity CIO has teamed up with Citizen Coin to reward and recognize their volunteers. This partnership is expected to bring several benefits to the volunteers of LonGBoaT.

Citizen Coin is an innovative rewards app that acknowledges volunteering efforts by providing digital coins that can be redeemed for discounts at local businesses. This initiative not only incentivizes volunteering but also boosts local commerce by driving traffic to participating businesses. For volunteers, it offers tangible rewards for their contributions, enhancing their engagement and motivation.

The success of Citizen Coin in Bradford has been noteworthy, where it has effectively promoted civic contribution and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Volunteers in Bradford have been rewarded with Citizen Coins for their community efforts, which they could spend at local businesses. This model has been successful in fostering a sense of community and encouraging volunteerism.

Recently launched in the Wakefield district, Citizen Coin aims to replicate this success by creating a supportive ecosystem for volunteers and local businesses alike. The scheme is free to use and accessible to all, ensuring that everyone in the community can participate and benefit. By recognizing and rewarding the valuable contributions of volunteers, Citizen Coin helps to sustain and grow volunteer activities, which are crucial for organizations like LonGBoaT (Sources: Nova WakefieldCitizen Coin & Wakefield Council).

We appreciate your commitment to our community!
