What a day!
Wakefield Community Pride 2026 brought LGBT+ people, allies, community groups, charities, businesses, performers and local residents together across Wakefield city centre on Sunday 9 August.
We’ve been looking back through the photos taken by the LonGBoaT Wakefield team and volunteers, and we wanted to share some of our favourite moments from the day.
From the brilliant performances and colourful stalls to the conversations, smiles, dancing, dressing up and everything in between, these photos capture just a little bit of what made Pride so special.
A Pride made by the community
One of the things we love most about Wakefield Community Pride is that it isn't just an event put on for the LGBT+ community. It is something created with the community.
Local organisations, performers, volunteers, businesses, artists and community groups all played their part in making the day happen. Most importantly, people came along and made the event their own.
For us, Pride is about visibility, celebration and creating spaces where LGBT+ people can feel comfortable being themselves. It's also about bringing allies into that conversation and showing that LGBT+ people are an important part of the wider Wakefield community.
But we know that we weren't the only people taking photos!

By sending us your photographs, you're giving LonGBoaT Wakefield permission to use them to help promote and document Wakefield Community Pride and our work as a local LGBT+ charity. We'll do our best to credit photographers wherever possible. If your photograph includes other people, please only send images that you're happy for us to use and share.
