August has been a whirlwind here at LonGBoaT Wakefield. From celebrating the community to launching new projects, there’s been a lot going on – so here’s a quick roundup of everything we’ve been up to.

The big one of the month! Our first ever Community Pride Fringe brought the community together like never before, with events, performances, and conversations that celebrated Pride in all its colours.

Our Queer Talks sessions gave space for discussion, reflection, and sharing stories – a real highlight for anyone wanting to dive deeper into LGBTQ+ experiences and issues.

We couldn’t have done it without our volunteers, partners, and everyone who joined in. Read our full thank you – we’re so grateful for all the support!

If you missed it, don’t worry – our gallery captures all the colour, joy, and unforgettable moments from the Fringe.

After the Fringe, we grabbed some pizza and had a proper feedback session, talking through what worked, what didn’t, and brainstorming ideas for 2026.

Another big moment this month: our Safe Space scheme is officially live! Supporting businesses and organisations to be safe, welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people.

Not everything was Pride-related! We’re also excited to announce a new community project starting this September, bringing even more opportunities for creativity and collaboration at Wakefield Kirkgate Station.

And finally, a bit of exploring: Chris’s trip to Haltwhistle was all about connecting with the wider community and seeing inspiring projects in action.

August has been busy, colourful, and full of energy – we can’t wait to carry that momentum into September and beyond!
