During Pride Month, LonGBoaT Wakefield was pleased to support Prison Pride at HMP Wakefield, working alongside colleagues from BHA for Equality, POPS (Partners of Prisoners) and the prison team to deliver an event celebrating the LGBT+ community and promoting inclusion.

The event demonstrated the positive impact that partnership working can have in creating safe, welcoming spaces for meaningful conversations. Throughout the day, participants engaged with activities celebrating LGBT+ history and Pride, while discussions around identity, inclusion and respect encouraged greater understanding and helped foster a sense of community.
For LonGBoaT Wakefield, opportunities like this are an important part of our wider mission. Inclusion should not be limited by setting, and everyone deserves access to supportive environments where they are treated with dignity and respect.
The success of the day was made possible through collaboration between statutory services and voluntary sector organisations, each bringing their own expertise and perspectives. Working together allows us to reach communities that may otherwise have limited opportunities to engage with LGBT+ organisations and support networks.
We would like to thank everyone at HMP Wakefield for their hospitality and commitment to creating an inclusive event, along with our partners at BHA for Equality and POPS for their continued collaboration.
As a charity, LonGBoaT Wakefield values opportunities to work alongside organisations across the public, voluntary and community sectors to improve inclusion and wellbeing throughout the Wakefield district.
We look forward to building on these partnerships in the future and continuing to support initiatives that promote equality, understanding and community.
