Celebrating the LGBT+ Community with Wakefield Community Pride 2026

Sunday 9th August sees Wakefield Community Pride 2026 return to WX Wakefield Exchange for a vibrant, family-friendly daytime celebration of the LGBT+ community.

Doors open at 12 noon, welcoming everyone to a full day of entertainment, creativity and community spirit as WX is transformed into a hub of Pride celebrations.

WX is home to the Main Stage

On the Main Stage, hosted by Miss Crystal Cut and Mizz Gavinia Edwards, audiences can enjoy an exciting line up of live performances. From songs from the musicals with Leah Hall, to the high-energy sounds of 90s Clubland with Zara, and a dazzling tribute to Lady Gaga from Lady Zaza, Lexie Loo will bring vintage charm to the occasion, and All About Jess will transport you with a tribute to Jess Glynne, and with so many more performances throughout the day there will be something to get everyone dancing.

But Pride is about much more than the stage.

Marketplace in The Factory

Visitors can explore a wide range of market stalls featuring LGBT+ creatives, showcasing unique products, art and handmade goods. Alongside this, there will be the opportunity to meet and speak with local organisations and services who are doing vital work across the Wakefield District to support health, wellbeing and inclusion. You can also learn more about the hard work of LonGBoaT Wakefield CIO directly from our volunteers at the LonGBoaT stall, find out more about Safe Space Network, the Community Gardening Project, our weekly Queer Socials and so much more.

Craft and Quiet Space in The Factory

Families are warmly welcomed, with children’s craft activities available throughout the day, helping younger visitors get involved in the celebrations. A quiet space will also be available for anyone who needs a calmer environment during the event.

Wakefield Community Pride is organised by us, LonGBoaT Wakefield, and is completely free to attend, ensuring that everyone in the community can take part in the celebrations. This year’s event has been made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, Turning Point Talking Therapies, and Unite the Union. Their commitment to supporting LGBT+ inclusion in Wakefield is greatly appreciated.

The Official Afterparty at The New Union

Get ready to dance the night away as the incredible Micky Lamport takes to the decks, bringing the perfect soundtrack to round off an amazing day of Pride celebrations for the Official Wakefield Community Pride After Party from 8pm at The New Union. Keeping the party going will be the fabulous Drew Ashlyn, who will be hosting the evening and treating you to a fantastic live performance.

After a full day of celebrating at Wakefield Community Pride 2026, there's no better way to end the day than with friends, great music and an unforgettable atmosphere at one of Wakefield's best loved venues.

LonGBoaT Wakefield continues to support the community all year round from its hub at Wakefield Kirkgate Railway Station, delivering events, support services and community projects for LGBT+ people across the district.
