On Sunday 9th August 2026, Wakefield Community Pride will once again bring together LGBT+ people, allies, community groups, charities, public services and businesses from across the district for a day of celebration, visibility and community. But events like this do not happen by themselves.
They happen because local people, organisations and businesses choose to support them.
As many organisations are aware, the current financial and political climate is challenging. Funding opportunities are becoming increasingly competitive, public sector budgets remain under pressure, and community organisations are being asked to do more with less. At the same time, LGBT+ communities continue to face increasing scrutiny and division in public debate.
That is why visible community events such as Wakefield Community Pride matter now more than ever.
They provide opportunities for people to come together, celebrate who they are, access support services, discover local organisations, and build connections within their community.
Quite simply, without the support of local businesses, organisations and individuals, community-led events like Wakefield Community Pride become increasingly difficult to deliver.
Support the Crowdfunder
The most direct way to help make Wakefield Community Pride 2026 happen is by supporting our Crowdfunder. Every contribution helps us create a safe, welcoming and inclusive event that remains free for everyone to attend.
Whether it's £5 or £50, every donation makes a difference: you're helping us provide:
Community activities
Family-friendly entertainment
Inclusive spaces
Accessibility provisions
Volunteer support
Event infrastructure and safety measures
Most importantly, you're helping ensure LGBT+ people in Wakefield continue to have a visible and positive community event that belongs to everyone.
Take a Stall at Wakefield Community Pride 2026
One of the best ways to support the event while promoting your organisation is by becoming a stallholder.
Every year, Pride provides an opportunity for organisations to engage directly with attendees from across Wakefield and beyond. Whether you're a business, charity, community group, educational provider, public service or voluntary organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
A stall gives you the opportunity to:
Showcase your services
Meet new audiences
Build community connections
Demonstrate your commitment to equality and inclusion
Support one of Wakefield's largest LGBT+ community events
We're particularly keen to hear from organisations working in health and wellbeing, community services, arts and culture, education, volunteering, heritage, public services and local business.

Why Community Support Matters
Wakefield Community Pride is organised by LonGBoaT Wakefield, a local LGBT+ charity that works throughout the year to support people across the district.
Our work doesn't begin and end with Pride. Every week we deliver activities and services including:
Queer Social
Coffee mornings
Gardening and horticulture projects
Wakefield Kirkgate Station Adoption activities
Community art and heritage projects
Safe Space initiatives
Hate crime reporting services
Volunteer opportunities
Community events and outreach
Pride is an opportunity to showcase all of that work whilst bringing the wider community together. The stronger the support from local businesses, organisations and residents, the stronger the event becomes.
Sponsorship Opportunities
For organisations looking to make a larger contribution, sponsorship packages remain available. Sponsorship helps us invest in the event while providing opportunities for organisations to demonstrate their support for the LGBT+ community and engage with attendees before, during and after the event. Full details can be found on our Pride website.
Get Involved
Whether you donate £5, book a stall, become a sponsor or simply help spread the word, you are helping to make Wakefield Community Pride 2026 possible.
Community Pride belongs to the community.
In a time when visible, positive and inclusive spaces matter more than ever, we hope you'll stand with us and help make this year's event the biggest and most welcoming yet.
