Rain Didn’t Stop the Rainbow: LonGBoaT at the Crigglestone Pink Picnic 2025

The sun might not have shown up, but we certainly did! On Sunday 6th July, LonGBoaT Wakefield took part in the Crigglestone Pink Picnic, hosted by Crigglestone Working Men’s Club and brilliantly organised by our very own Treasurer, David Hallows.
Originally planned for outside, the picnic was swiftly moved indoors thanks to a dodgy weather forecast; but that didn’t dampen spirits one bit. The room was full of colour, community, and good vibes from the moment the doors opened.
Our Pride merch stall was out in full force, run by Chair David, Vice Chair Chris, and the absolute superstar of the day - our amazing volunteer George. George was a total credit to the charity: chatting with visitors, connecting with other stallholders, and representing LonGBoaT with energy, warmth, and a smile that lit up the room (even if the sun didn’t).
We also got the chance to do a bit of networking with other local organisations — always great to see who else is doing important work in the community, and to feel part of something bigger than ourselves.
A huge thank you to Crigglestone Working Men’s Club for putting on such a fab local Pride event — it’s so important to have inclusive spaces like these right in the heart of our communities.
And, of course, massive love to everyone who came by to say hello, picked up a badge, or simply shared a bit of conversation. Events like this are what community looks like; rain or shine.
