We are pleased to announce that Oliver Thompson, Qualified Counsellor, will be using the LonGBoaT Hub at Kirkgate Station to host his counselling sessions.
Information about Oliver from the Counselling Directory website:
My aim is to provide a comfortable space for someone to explore their sense of self, their feelings, and their lives, without the fear of judgement. Hopefully resulting in you gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, and your place within this world. With this in mind, I am drawn to the LGBTQIA+ community and have both lived experience, and client experience in this area.
I am a queer trans man in my 30s from West Yorkshire. I use the Person-Centred Approach in my practice, and I qualified in 2022. I was drawn to the Person-Centred Approach due to its humanistic and non-directive nature, and the focus on the core conditions of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard within the therapeutic relationship.
In my sessions, non-directive means that the subject of each session is entirely up to you, however, I may ask questions to help understand that subject further, and gently challenge you on things I may have noticed.
