Enter the Wakefield Civic Society's 2025 Architectural Photography Competition!

If you’re someone who’s always snapping pics of Wakefield’s buildings — from old stone churches to bright new builds — this one’s for you.
Wakefield Civic Society has just launched its 2025 Architectural Photography Competition, and it’s open to anyone, whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just like taking good shots on your phone.
The theme this year is “Celebrating the Architecture of Wakefield District”, and the idea is simple: take a great photo of a building or architectural detail somewhere in the Wakefield area. That could be a full street scene, a quirky feature on a shopfront, or a hidden gem you think deserves more love.
🏆 Winners will receive cash prizes, and shortlisted entries will be shown in a special public exhibition during 2026. Your photo could even feature in the Society’s future publications!
📅 Deadline: Friday 15th November 2025
📍 Where to enter and full details: wakefieldcivicsociety.org.uk/2025-architectural-photography-competition
You don’t need fancy equipment — just a sharp eye, a good sense of light, and something that catches your attention in the cityscape. This is a brilliant chance to show off Wakefield through your lens and be part of something that celebrates the beauty (and sometimes weirdness) of our built environment.
So next time you’re walking through the city centre, mooching about in a village, or just passing a building that makes you look twice — snap it, and send it in.
Let’s put Wakefield’s architecture in the frame!
