On Sunday 27th July, LonGBoaT Wakefield packed up the bunting, badges, and rainbow flags and headed east to the coast — all the way to Cleethorpes for this year’s Pink Picnic at the Fitties Community Garden.
Organised by our very own Treasurer, David Hallows, the event was a gorgeous celebration of local LGBTQ+ pride right by the seaside. It was a sunny, joyful afternoon filled with community spirit, music, and connection — the kind of space where people of all ages could simply be themselves.
LonGBoaT Trustees David, Chris Taylor, and Emily were on hand to represent the charity and show our support, bringing along our Pride merch stall. From badges to tote bags, we chatted with picnic-goers about our work in Wakefield, gave out info, and raised a bit of money for the charity while we were at it!
Events like these remind us how important it is to show up, not just in our own area, but across the wider region to build solidarity and connection with LGBTQ+ people and allies everywhere.
Massive thanks to David for organising such a fab day, and to everyone who came by the stall to say hi, grab some merch, or drop a few coins in the bucket. We love you!
