Just in time for Yorkshire day, we're excited to announce a new collaboration between LonGBoaT Wakefield and Horbury Victoria Brass Band to breathe new life into the Ashley Jackson Framing the Landscape murals in the subway between platforms 2 and 3 at Wakefield Kirkgate.

Ashley Jackson, the renowned Yorkshire artist, has left an indelible mark with his murals installed as part of this project in 2017. His vision was to greet travellers arriving at Wakefield Kirkgate, the gateway to the Pennines, with scenes of Yorkshire's breathtaking landscapes.

Recently, the accompanying sound for these murals had ceased, leading many to believe it was a technical issue. However, upon inspection by LonGBoaT, we discovered it was a simple matter of a faulty USB memory stick.

In collaboration with Horbury Victoria Brass Band, we introduced new soundtracks for the artwork, including renditions of classic pieces like "Jerusalem", as requested by Jackson. You can also hear Ashley Jackson Talking about the piece too!

Join us in celebrating this union of art and music, enriching the experience of all who pass through Wakefield Kirkgate station.

Next time you're at the station have a listen out; you might also here a cheeky "easter egg" track by another Wakefield Artist....
